He has been working in the mortgage research business for the past 34 years as an economist, analyst, adviser and author. He has been a student of housing economics since his undergraduate days at the University of Wisconsin, and earned a master’s degree at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. For the past twenty-two years, Tom has worked as a mortgage finance researcher, secondary market analyst, money market economist, journalist and consultant. He spent eleven years with MGIC, three years with North American Mortgage (where he served as director of economic research), and two years with the ABC Group, before setting out his own shingle over a decade ago. Since December of 1990, Tom has managed TSL Consulting, a survey research firm. TSL Consulting provides survey research services to wholesalers. He has authored dozens of articles over the years, and writes a monthly column, “Mortgage Corner,” in a well-known industry newsletter.
